A Wide Blank
A Wide Blank, 2014/15

In collaboration with Where (R. Lyon and Lucy Hunter)

This project began with a proposition that I write a speculative press release for an exhibition I would have enjoyed, but which nevertheless did not exist. In my writing, I described canned laughter, readymade artists and surveillance curation: in short, what I thought the art world could learn from Žižek's theory of interpassivity.

A Wide Blank
Where took the theme of my imagined exhibition and produced three experiments. For the first, Where opened its shipping container “to anyone, to do anything” from September 12 - October 12, 2014. For the second, Where initiated a handwritten letter campaign to established commercial galleries. For the third, we organized a dinner at one such gallery, entirely comprised of edible parasites.
