The Enemy (2008-) is an ongoing collaboration with filmmaker and writer Jeffrey K.Miller that revisits the life and career of Wyndham Lewis, an English painter, critic and novelist best known as the leader of a short-lived, 1910s avant-gardist movement called Vorticism.
This project takes shape as a series of commission-based manifestos, which
scramble the typography of the pages of BLAST! 1, the first issue of the seminal Vorticist publication. The content of these manifestoes reflects the interests of the commissioning agents, and the commissioning process echoes the appropriation of rhetorical and graphical affect from the source material of BLAST!
